Default homemade neons vs neon kit

it just so happens that my dad has made neon signs and such for 45 years now and i was wondering.. since i would get this stuff for free and in an almost infinate variety of color combos and designs would it be as simple to install and wire to battery as a kit would be? there would have to be a transformer as with signs like ones you see at stores but it is a 12volt to 120volt transformer.. so would this even be possible as car is 12 volt.. maybe i wouldn't need transformer at all since its the same voltage?

what you neon kit wizards think? i'd ask my dad but he out of country now

*whispers*.... ......................leds!!!

Youll need the transformer for sure. Do you want to use the neons outside or inside? either way youll need some serious protection so they dont get broken. The good thing is that you can form them to whatever shape you want.

As mentioned... neons are'nt really neons. They are ultra brite LED"* LOL I went with Street Glows... Nice Price (200) for 4 tubes , 4 footers front and back, 6 footers on side, 8 colors, Almost 100 patterns and controled by an FOB. also has mic in control box that allows the music mode to work, plus the box has a motion sensor to make them strobe in anyone messes with your car, ... or bumps it.

GXP, you can buy actual neon for underbody kits, you know that right? LED'* are just starting their wave or technology to be nice looking kits.

And 200 is a lot for a kit with only 8 colors.
