I was wondering if anyone has tried this?

Driving at night could be vastly improved with a set of HID'*. But, I dont want to put them in the low beam socket because then the daytime running lights would always have them on, burning them out prematurely. So, I was thinking about puting them in the fog lights. This works great because I can maually turn them off/on with the foglight switch.

Has anyone done this though? What is the pattern like? I would like to drive with them on at night all the time, so if they throw light at oncomming traffic then this might not be such a bright idea...

I have HID fogs. They are good at night, if you have them aimed right you won't have problems with traffic. You'll have about the same pattern as your headlights and a little farther out

You could disable your DRL'* and run them in your low beams

Hmm, you have a newer bonnie though. Mine is a 98. Would they be alright in that style stock fog lamp?

HID'* should work fine in your housing, you order them by bulb number like a reg bulb. I have them in my stock housings with no issue.

Check and see if you have a DRL relay or fuse. I had a relay and pulled it. My left bright headlight was grounded through the relay somehow, so I re-grounded my left bright. Not that I ever need it anymore

EDIT: They should be fine in the fogs, but the low beams require a special harness to bypass the Bulb Out Light in the DIC. I'll do some digging around for the part # and mfgr info. Just so the info is here for someone. It might take some time, but I'll find it again

yeah, I knew you ordered them by bulb number. cool Im excited to hear they would work in the stocker housings. Didn't want to dump a ton of money into this idear...

I actually have a bad bulb you can test fit in your housing, just to be sure, before you spend the money on a set. When are you going to be in STC next?

Be careful, HIDs in fogs will be very bright, you should really replace the housing with one made for HIDs
