I just wanted to give a heads up on some good polish. When I first started seriously getting into detailing properly last summer I bought some Optimum polishes, and man was it a chore polishing the hard paint on the Bonneville, and I never did get it as good as I wanted. Since then I've found that GM paint is about the hardest stuff out there, especially the Corvettes. Well at the advice of a guy on Autopia who recently did a 2001 black Bonneville, I just got a couple Menzerna polishes from Autogeek, and I did a test spot with the Super Intensive Polish. I am very impressed as this stuff looks like it'* the ticket to getting my paint virtually defect free.

What about this product? Has anyone tried these sealants?

I am interested. I have quite a stock of polishes built up but I am willing to add more. Also thank you for confirming that the paint on a Bonneville is hard.

Edit: Checked out Autogeek and did not realize that the polish was German. I have a lot of Einszett polishes and they work well.

It might be a while for a review with the Bonnie as I'm going to concentrate on the convertible for now since it hasn't been polished at all yet. I did a test on the Bonnie'* trunk last night with the Optimum Hyper Compound I had been using, and it blew that stuff away. I went back over it tonight and did the entire trunk, and it looks amazing!! I used my Porter Cable and a 5.5" LC low profile orange pad and the Super Intensive Polish. Prior, I had used the Hyper Compound twice with an orange pad and still had scratches. But the SIP totally removed about 95% of the scratches and swirls, but left some light micromarring due to the aggressiveness. Then I went over it with Menzerna'* Micro Polish on a LC white pad and it came out nearly perfect outside of a couple heavier scratches.

This polish is said to be the best there is right now, and is marketed for the really hard clears like the ceramiclears on cars like the Mercedes Benz lineup. The polishes that Autogeek sells is the German line, but there are other places that sell a US line which is similar, but are actually different polishes. It gets very confusing. They also have another polish, 106ff that is supposed to be the best because it will take out pretty heavy defects, but finish down perfect in one polish. But that stuff was $50 for 32 oz, which was a bit rich for me. The SIP and Micro Polish look to be a great 1-2 punch for me.

I see a purchase this week from AutoGeek. Also it was nice info to know that there are 2 different formulas for the product and AutoGeek carries the one that works on our cars.

Well the Autogeek stuff is really the same as the other Menzerna stuff, it'* just got different names I think. It sounds like they have about a dozen polishes all together, but I get the impression a lot of them overlap. The 106ff and I believe the 95U are the cermiclear polishes that Autogeek sells. All the rest are for regular clear. Look at the page for each product and I think they mention if they are for regular clearcoats. But from what I've read, the ceramiclear polishes work just fine on regular clearcoat. The Powergloss is supposed to be the most aggressive, but I've read it'* not the easiest to work with. This stuff is really meant for a rotary, but I am seeing no problem using a PC. The only thing I don't care for is the dusting. The Optimum polishes don't dust at all. But it doesn't dust much, so not a big deal.
