Since you have bare aluminum to start with, a good bath of etching mag cleaner will prep the housing just fine. And Wren is right on the money on "different conditions, different finishes".

The nosedrive and rotor plate are Gen 3 pieces that I painted along with my Gen 2 case a month ago. The case is a Gen 3 I just painted a few days ago, and with a different can. Quite a bit of difference, but I'm not too worried about it.
