ENGINE DEGRESE
Try some engine degreaser. It'* pretty simple. Just spray, let it sit, then rinse very thoroughly. But follow directions on the can for more details. You can also clean it by hand if you don't want to soak your engine in water. I prefer to clean by hand. Takes a bit longer, but works just as well if not better.
a little correction here.
new toothbrush, with some FULLY CONCENTRATED simple green, and get ready to take off some stuff, and spend the entire day doing it.. because once you spend an hour or two cleaning something, you want it to look perfect, which makes you want to spend more time until it is absolutly perfect.

All of these ideas are good, just get started. Once you have most of the dirt off (you cant get it all) spray down the engine with arourall tire foam, the stuff does miracles to bring out the bling.
