Default Door Jam material visible!!

Just bought a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville SE
When i opened the front driver door I noticed the material visible in the pic.
This material is visible when I open either the driver or passenger side door.
It seems like it is firewall material.
Looks like a piece of the bodywork is missing.
If so is this expensive to fix.
Thanks in advance.

Yep, all are that way. Never had a problem with it getting wet though.
