Default Dirty Sunroof?

My 95 SLE sunroof is moving very slow sometimes wont open or close i jthink it might be a little dirty I live in a harsh desert enviroment. What is a good way to clean it out?

if it is not working at all sometimes.. im willing to bet your sunroof motor is on its way out.. you need to drop the headliner to get at it if you are going to replace it.

unless you have piles of sand and such in the tracks, you shouldnt need to "clean" them.. but it would be a good idea to lube the track with some lithium grease...

thanks I never greased it so that could have been the problem and thus burning out the electric motor. How much are they anyways?

You just witnessed.....a bad joke.

Something you might want to look at...your sunroof glass has a metal frame that will rust out and will chip and chunk all inside the slider track. Mine was like that, and I had a devil of a time getting most of the chunks out of the way after removing the sunroof (what was left of it).

I clean the tracks and pivot points and lubricate my sunroofs each spring. Try that first. Use a very light grease on the tracks, light oil on the hinge/pivot points.
