I just had a few questions about detailing your engine. When the oil was changed last, a lil got spilled and I smell it burning off and I just figured this is a great time to shine up the SC.

1. Is there a better cleaner out there that should be used over another?
2. Is there a shine that can be sprayed on after?
3. Is it ok to spray everything?

When I was at the part store looking at the different cleaners the associate was saying that I have to cover all electrical, dont spray belts and exhaust. I honestly think he was as clueless as me.....LOL

Look for a product called CD-2. It'* a 3 step process. Step one - spray cleaner on warm engine. Step two - rinse. Step three - spray on shine. It works and looks great.

You could always hit the entire engine bay with simole green or equivalant and then hand detail everything with tire shine

I was jut afraid that if I used something like tire shine it would either be too greasy looking. Someone also sid the engine cant be warm or I would crack the block/heads? Thanks for clearifing this!

I haven't had any problems washing a warm engine. I use the lower pressure (not squeezing the handle) at the car wash to rinse the engine. It doesn't take a lot of time to rinse off an engine, don't focus on one area if you don't have to, keep the wand moving. Check your carwash, alot of them use warm to hot water now for rinsing.

Sidenote: What trim level of '03 did you find?

I use simple green. Don't spray it in the alt. coils.

Thanks guys!! All done and clean!! The power wash I went to installed dryers on hoses. After she was all cleaned I used that to dry her off......just incase I got too much water on things that were not ment to get that wet. Sprayed detail gloss on everything! Looking good.....now I'm second guessing the 03 SSEi.

I posted additional pics in the gallery. My computer was being difficult on posting additional ones here. I really like the way it turned out. My wife asked me to do the same thing to her Maxima. I said NOPE! I hate that car.....you want a clean engine......get a new car!!
