Default Correct wheel for 92 SSEi?

Just got me a "new" '92 SSEi, it came with these wheels. But they look so dark!
Were these centers always this color, or are they supposed to be alloy colored?

It was an option for 92 SSE and SSEi'* to get color matched wheels. Mine were white to match my white car.

Color matches wheels were popular for our body style. I think they look sweet.

Color matching rims...that was the "hot" thing to do back then.

I'm confused and going but why sell the 97 for a 92?

A simple matter of what I can afford. The '97 was nearly perfect, but represented a big monthly payment. The '92 is paid for cash, has depreciated as far as it ever will, and will provide me with A LOT more opportunity to work on an SSEi (!) But that'* OK cause I like to fix things.
