I've been told that it is possible to dye leather seats. Anyone done this?
I'm interested in the process, what prep is needed, where to get the dye, etc.
Also will the dye rub off and stain clothes or is it pretty stable?
Thanks,
John

OK, thanks. Limited colours but good information on that site. I'll have to contact them and see if they have a Canadian outlet, I don't think you can mail arosol cans.

I don't think I would recomend it. I work with leather. The leather seats are sealed to protect the leather. You would have to remove this sealer, otherwise the dye cant get in to the fibers, it will then get on your clothes. There may be products that will change the color, but I don't see it lasting very long.
Might we suppose that my 94'* previous owner recreationally beat the crap out of the car and had worn out the coating? Before I ripped apart the main driver'* seat and replaced the seat covers, I saw the old seat was torn up, thin, and black.
