Default Car Bra

I know you either like them or you don't. Buy what I want to know is the pros and cons. What are they usually made of? If it'* leather, are they alright in the rain. They obviousely keep bug juice from messing up the paint which is huge down here in the south. Do they really mess up your paint over time? I already think they look badass on SSEis I just want more info. Thanks in advance.

If you have a car prone to the bubbling hood syndrome (you do) I'd go ahead and do it to hide the damage. If you haven't yet had bubbling, don't put a bra on.

I know one black 00 SSEi here had a change in clearcoat color (it hazed out) under a wet bra.

I've had no issues with my 93, and it'* had a hood protector (half bra) on it quite a bit since I've owned it with no issues.

The key to success is a HARD wax like turtle wax or better yet Liquid Glass. Several coats under the bra to protect the hood. Remove and clean regularly.

I was thinking I would put some of that film stuff onto everywhere that the bra would be up against. hopefully that would keep the paint safe. I don't know when I would get something like that though, if those things are leather then I'm scared to know what they would set me back.

I put one on my 99. There were lots of rock chips, etc on the front bumper when I bought it. I got tired of looking at them!

It was less than $80.

I figure the paint is already ruined, so whatever. It looks better (IMO) with it.

The bad: I find myself using Armor All on it OFTEN! Also, I imagine the bra will only last for a few years before it will look bad?

I noticed today, the mesh right under the license plate has a SMALL tear in it right in the center. I know it was not there Saturday when I took these pictures. I didn't drive the car Sunday. So I'm sure something flew off a flat bed Semi in a construction zone and put a tear in it. Almost the entire interstate to Salt Lake City is 2 lanes, and it is bad for many, many, many miles! One truck was throwing rocks and dirt clods like crazy. And that’* probably what happened.

Yes, it is leather. I wonder if I still have the car in a few years, and I want another Bra. Will I still be able to get one?

You can buy the Saddleman hood protector for the 92-99 Bville from JC Whitney for $30. 2k and newer may be similar. Not a full bra, but it protects the hood very well.

Yep, just looked it up. Only it doesn't say "Saddleman", it'* a LeBra Hood Protector. $29.99 Part # 76ZX2868 Unfortunately, since the site is cookie based, I can't link directly for you. Just search that product number.

NOTE: It'* just the piece for the hood. It does not cover fenders or bumper

It looks like the price I paid at Autozone is about the same as JC Whitney once you add in shipping. I have the LeBra, but they list two front Bra'* for a 99 bonneville. I wonder what the other would look like "COVERCRAFT® MULTIPIECE BRAS". :?:

I really wouldn't put one on a car unless there is already visible wear. I linked to your myspace from your profile hugger10, and your newer bonneville looks good without it! But where my car is already messed up, I'll keep it on and see how long it lasts.

Mine hides the chips and paint peel, and hasn't left any discoloration, but I wax under it and wash under it almost every week. Mine is a GM dealer part, ran me about $60 US.
