Thanks for the local tips guys. I'm in the Fairlawn / Bath area outside of Akron. I've heard of Horizon before, I'll check them out if I end up having too.

Just to update this thread - I took the car back and they retinted like 3 of the windows. Even the retinted ones don't look that good. Now this is the first vehicle that I've had the windows tinted in, and maybe I don't know what tinted windows are supposed to look like. Maybe I'm thinking they should be basically flawless and thats not the case. All I know is that there are still some decent wrinkles and some slight bubbling. I had the impression that they should be totally smooth.

Also theres about a 1/2inch to a full inch gap around the edges of the windows, which to me looks pretty tacky and ridiculous..but again, maybe thats supposed to be there and I don't know what tinted windows are supposed to be like. Either way, I'm not really satisfied with my purchase.

Can you get your money back and take it to a decent tinter?

There should be no bubbles, wrinkles or anything between the tint and the windows. The tint job should look like a window only darker.

It'* hard to say. Around here, that price he paid is about average with all the shops contacted. I've read in Texas it'* unheard of to pay more than 120 for tinted windows on a sedan. Location matters big time. Hope the OP gets it taken care of.
i had mine done for 170 at a reputable shop, and he did a remarkable job on it... SOME places like tint king in Billerica take pride in ripping people off for 250

RJ, you are right to feel ripped off in this case. None of those things should be true. With a proper tint job, the very worst you should see is perhaps maybe a small wrinkle in a tough spot. No wrinkles all over, no bubbles at all, and the tint should be done so that you almost cannot tell where it ends...no 1/2" gap around the edges.

I am really sorry to hear about this, as it gives a bad name to tinting in general and may discourage someone from tinting when a proper tint job can be a real nice asset. Plus, it just plain sucks that you've been taken by a hack.

I would hazard a guess that the person who did your job didn't plan on ripping you off, they just are not good enough to do what they have charged you for.

It'* always fair for you to expect to get a quality job when you pay good money for custom work.

As for the 1/2 inch to inch gap around the edges, there should only be that gap at the top of the window.

Mine does not have that gap anywhere, including at the top of the window. Ask those here that have seen mine. It'* actually difficult to tell that it isn't factory, except for the obvious darker than stock tint.
