BRAKE DUST!!!!!!!!!!!
No, the brakes are the same...But I REALLY don't think you'd want drum brakes on the front
They definitely keep your wheels clean, but your car wouldn't stop very well. They do make dust guards that go on the inside of your rims....

hah, what kinda brake pads did you buy? the $20 ones from Raybestos? I should have spent $15 more and gotten the ceramics...my last pads never put out dust, but OMG these new ones...my wheels were SHINY and SPOTLESS 2 days ago, then I had to drive a couple hundred miles yesterday with alot of city braking and my wheels are a nice shade of black....maybe i should just paint them black ? lol...maybe not...i am considering those kleen wheels shields tho..as soon as i refill my wallet....
you have easy wheels to clean...try cleaning some laces, and THEN and ONLY THEN can you complain about your wheels being dirty! hah, good luck.

I have my doubts about the Kleen Wheels in that they don't allow the front rotors to cool as well. That'* probably the main reason I don't have them on my car.
Get ceramic pads and be done with it. I have no brake dust.

Ceramic...definately ceramic...I have virtually NO brake dust since I put ceramics on.....I love it....I have been through cheap pads and I couldn't stand washing wheels every week. Go ceramic.....Did I mention I like ceramic?
1. Ceramics will definitely make a huge difference - definitely make the switch.
2. As noted, nothing will keep the wheels perfectly clean for an extended period of time - so find a good cleaning routine that works well for you. If it is entirely too much trouble to put a coat of wax on them at least every couple months - then at least wipe on one of the 'Wax-As-U-Dry' products onto them after you wash and detail the car. That will at least offer the surface some protection from the brake dust and make it easier to wipe off and/or wash off.
3. There are actually 'brake dust repellants' on the market. Here in our area, I just came across one on the shelf at AutoZone for the first time recently. It is actually branded as a Michelin product. They have Michelin Brake Dust Repellant, Wheel Cleaner and Tire Dressing. I have never seen these before about a month ago and have not tried any of them myself.
4. I have used the Kleen Wheels on a couple cars and I was very, very pleased. They did make a huge difference in keeping the wheels much cleaner. They also have a row of small vents that are designed into them to bring air in to cool the brakes, etc. without allowing brake dust out. Thus, I experienced no negative affects on braking performance. And they are a nice way to hide drum brakes in the rear if you want or need to. But I must note, I used them back before ceramic pads were widely available.
Good luck!
