Default 96-99 Tail Amber Removal

I've done a little research, and I've come to the conclusion that it'* not possible to "clear" anything on the 96-99 models - just the 92-95 SSE and SSEi'*. Maybe (hopefully) I'm wrong and someone has done it on the 96-99 years. Here'* the look I ideally want. Anybody have some insight on this or know of anyone who has been successful?

Amber Removed

Taking it further maybe and adding some shade. I don't personally care for the look of just the small white spots for the reverse lights. I think it looks better with the white continued across the back as I think it flows a little better.

How do you think it looks and is this possible? Thanks!!

from what I understand, the outter lense is actually colored amber on the 96-99 unlike the 2 lenses that the SSE/i 92-99'* have. Mostly in part because of the black grids that they have. I don't think it'* possible unless you go somewhere and get custom....

I have looked into custom a bit and haven't found a place willing to take it on yet. I was also looking for the cleared amber look to go with my clear front corners. Same as you.

Nothing yet... :(

That'* what I was afraid of... I'm still hoping someone else can contradict that :(

Sorry to be a bummer...Only thing I can do is confirm that the outter lense is red. And i think the amber is also part of the outter lense as well. I've cut into 4 or so at this point for the light up PONTIAC and the only thing I can see looking into the ends is a clear piece of plastic that looks to be a light dispersion piece.

Tell you what. I ended up with a right tail with broken mounts at home, which I probably should have thrown out already, lol. I'll cut it up and see what I see, though I believe we all know already...

The tail is a red lense on the outside with black plastic about 1/4 inch thick backing it up. Here'* a section with teh plastic removed

I know that probably answers the question, but to be more specific (or "pacific" as a boss I once had says), the center tail in the pic also has a small clear section on either side. this is obviously, duh, clear plastic. The amber section dillcc is talking about is in the left and right tails. It is almost certainly also solid amber, like the red in your center tail, but I was offering a sacrificial tail (already no good) to verify that for posterity.

Ohhhhh in the outters. I believe I've been told it'* all one piece. I've got a light or two laying around the house and bet you could cut into them to find out that it'* one solid piece and there'* no way to do anything..

Worst case, I'll know by Friday afternoon.
