Ya the reputible shops know about the proper primer and making it bond properly. He said he'll fix it properly. I just wnted to see what others were doing.
Mine needs to be done too.. :( Spoke to GM and they won't fix it for free. My body guy told me to do it right he'd need to strip the whole hood and reprimer and paint for $900, seems pretty high to me. Let me know how you make out.

900 bucks, a new hood is 1200. It should be done for no more than $350,I thought that was too much. They try to tell you to do it right it will cost blah blah blah big bucks. The one guy told me they have to sand it,as it isnt really rust ,it just needs a proper epoxy and reprimed and paint and clearcoat. This is from a good ,reputible collision and paint shop.

Go the dealer and give them **** until they do it. If they won't fix it complain to GM. It is a known problem and is supposed to be covered under the 7 year/100k mile rust warranty. We had ours fixed by the dealer at 99k miles. They had no problem doing it at all. Just go to the dealer and complain enough and they should do it eventually. If you have more than 100k miles I don't know what to tell you though. That was like 2+ years ago that we had it fixed, and 60k+ miles later it is still fine. Originally the problem had started at a lot less than 60k miles, so I'd say it helped a little anyways.
