2000+ owners, door trim question
I posted on this in Detailing, but haven't had any firm answer, so I'll try here. I got some polish on the plastic/rubber trim on the top of the drivers door, and it went from a shiny painted look to a dull rubber look. Even rubbing it with a terrycloth towel marred the surface. Is this normal, or do I have defective trim?

I did a double post because of no replies of anyone having this problem. I tried rubbing it while washing, using more polish, using a citris type cleaner, and Back to Black. Nothing works. And the more I rub into farther down the trim, it does the same thing. Now I'm afraid to touch it for fear of ruining the remaining trim. I can also push my fingernail into the trim and it leaves an impression. I just want to know if this is normal I guess, or if it'* a defect I could try to get fixed by the dealer (haha).

Hmm... you can leave dents in it? that is odd... i'm not sure what kind of trim a 2000+ has on it but i can't think of anything that you can push dents in like that. i'd say that its probibly some sort of defect... do you happen to have any pics of it? that might help a little... i'm not sure what window trim it is you'r talking about exactly.

Look at this picture from my paint thread. It'* the black trim at the very top edge of the door. It'* hard to tell in this pic, but on the left side of the pic below the flash spot you can see it'* dull, while on the far right it'* more shiny like a painted surface. But yes, I can dig my nail into it, it seems to be soft.
