81 buick regal
okay my cousin has a 81 buick regal and this thing has no power to it in first gear but then takes off in second. does any one know if this is normal or if we have a prblem her. and if so can some one give us some pointers on how to fix this

2 or 4bbl? If a 4bbl, check to see if the secondaries are working properly. Also on 2 or 4bbl, check to make sure the kickdown lever is working properly.
How about tune up? Have one recently? Is the carb tuned properly? How about the timing? There are alot of factors with a carbed car not running right.

Look around where the engine touches the transmission. You'll see the kickdown. See if you find this build interesting:
