Default TH400 Identification

I'm rying to document my TH400. There is a tag that is attached above the pan on the passenger side.

The plate that is attached has 118 near the top, center of the tag.

Lower left hand corner, 88LJ, lower right hand corner, 35769.

My car is a 1971 Chevelle, the transmission and motor are not original.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

The 118 is day of year build date, the 88LJ is a bit of mystery to me, should be year and engine rpo, if it truly was built in 88 it probably came out of a truck or commercial vehicle, the 35769 is the serial number. Check out the chevellestuff website for TH400 info.

it is a mystery, even the way the 88LJ is formatted doesn't match anything I have been able to find.

I got the same response from Chevellestuff, weird numbers, no idea. He thinks maybe the year is 1988, no idea what the LJ is.
It could be from a truck. I have a 396, I can't access the block numbers so I don't know what it is, although it is unlikely they are from the same vehicle.

Not really important, just curous.
Thank you
