That'* a big chunk of change for no parts replaced. Glad it works now!

Default ignition cylinder

well the repair didn't last long. I have just used tri-flow product and seems to be much better. If needed again, which of the 2 products would you use ? I am also concerned of it attracting dirt and causing more problem down the road.

You should never use a liquid lubricant in an ignition lock such as this. The chemicals do weird things to the plastics and other materials in the lock cylinder and steering column (depending on how much you sprayed in there).

Out of those two, the one called [dry lock lube] would be the best.

Overall, the type that comes in a small little puffer with graphite is the one I'd use, similar to this:

There'* a reason that you never see this stuff advertised but Home Depot etc. keeps it on the shelf: It sells itself by working well.

Interesting, The lady at locksmiths insisted to using Tri-flow over graphite. She said that graphite will cause problems. She sprayed quite a bit and then went on to spray my door lock which didn't need any spraying. She said they with fobs, people never use key in door and the parts need to keep lubricated. I have heard on another site that locksmiths generally use Tri-flow now days over graphite but I don't remember exactly why.

Maybe it'* a new thing that I'm not aware of . . . and that'* entirely possible. At the same time, graphite has worked well for exactly this issue on countless variations of mechanical locks for decades, and doesn't require a pressurized liquid chemical delivery system. Your car has RFID keys, so there'* not even an electrical contact to worry about with graphite like some older cars.

I'm always scared of things that list themselves as a penetrant being sprayed in locks, because we often do not know how much stays behind after evaporation. Whatever is left often collects dust and/or gums up. Some are better than others, and some are much worse than others. This is not to say that they have no place in locks, just usually they are better used sparingly in locks that are actually jammed up from years of weather etc.

I'll be curious to know how your ignition switch does over the next few months, and . . .

Took him 30 min and took $300.

It seems to be working for now.
 . . . I'd suggest going after this guy for a refund.

The guy contacted me and said he would text me and help fix the issue. Many times he told me that he would contact me and never did. I told him that because he didn't follow through, I got another locksmith to look after the issue...and I respect his time but he should refund me $200 of the 300 as he did not fix the issue and basically gave me a runaround for over a week when I needed the vehicle. Of course he did not text me as usual.

He told me to meet him in the area where he was doing another job as well. He may have travelled 10 min or so to the meeting location.

He contacted me and said that he is trying to do an honest job and wants me to be content with outcome. He asked for 10 days to pay me when he has the $$.

I said OK. If he actually pays then I will be very pleased /impressed with his response.

Wow, at $10.00 per minute I would think he would have more reserve to dip into.
