"E-Brake Light Always On"

2000 Impala LS but I installed another cluster from a 01 Monte Carlo.. Baffled as to why the E-Break light is always on.. I put the original cluster in and it is off.. Any thoughts suggestions..

Thank you in advance...

Very possible the cluster is different.

the manual doesnt say anything about the different clusters, they mostly talk to the pcm via the serial network so the connections may be the same. the few things that dont go to the pcm dont have anything to do with the brake. i think if it was mine i would take it apart and desolder the led

I agree with mike their most be something different between the 00 and 01 model or the impala and Monte Carlo.

Just in case the problem is not in the cluster, did you check the little plunger switch located at the top of the E-brake pedal. If it is out of position the E-brake light would be constantly on.

Yea but Roy, he doesn't experience the same problem with the original cluster.

I read that as well, but don't want to overlook the possible simple solution.
