Default Bad MAF

I have a 1997 Camaro 30th anv., and have located a problem with the mass air flow sensor, however, when running the vehicle with the MAF unplugged the vehicle runs fine when im giving it pedal, but as soon as it begins to idle the car will shutdown.
Is this to be expected? Thanks for any information

With the MAF unplugged you really don't want to get on the gas to hard. Your using hard coded tables instead of live data. It is possible when you get off it the engine will die with running on the VE tables. But typically the engine will run fine. You may want to look at your throttle position sensor.
