Default 98 chevy malibu 3.1

hey guys,

may have opp to purchase 98 malibu..50k miles

it was my dads

only thing i know about it, it mostly sit in garage
it had gaskets changed, 10 yrs ago, and still seeps coolant
the ac hose block broke? needs replaced, recharged

would this be a good car?

what are the common issues on these?


my current car/97 olds 88, has 105k and was florida car, thinking i'm better off with keeping current car that i've replaced pretty much everything


thoughts?

Well, for one thing, your current vehicle has a better ride than the Malibu.....

Surprisingly, not much difference in gas mileage on highway(1 mpg)....

Your A/C works.....

How long has the system been open? If a long time, it will need a new accumulator, as well as fixing the broken part, and then pulling a vacuum and replacing refrigerant/oil.....

Your Olds is a better built vehicle...

Have to agree with Tech II about the Olds, however since the Malibu is a family car with very low miles, if you can pick it up for a love and appreciation price meaning next to nothing I'd snap it up and address it'* issues as time and money permits.
