evap takes a while too and very rarely causes drive-ability issues

It sounds like the o2 sensors are doing what they are suppose to. Which also means that the cat should be fine too. You should get a code if something is wrong with the cat or sensors.

I dont know what they base there reading on. If you are using a after market cat. It might not be made to be the same as a the factory one. If it fails after you replace it. That could be a problem you might wanna check into that. In that sense everything from codes and data list reading would be fine. But the tailpipe output would be different.

well what i mean also this 97 doesnt have a 02 sensor heater but on the 2004 in the the hand held will show a circle HTr for the 02 sensor heater what i thinking is that the 97 computer doesnt show about CAT it doesnt light up in the tool but does for the 2004 but if something not working it flashes i was thinking thats cuz its old i cant even do a EVAP or a 02 sensor 2 dignastic its not supported it cant even read the VIN with the hand held what else can i look for also? is there a site that with the logging software i can see what it should be the ranges for each sensor?

things that can make it run rich, air filter, maf not reading right, plugs/wires. check the temp through the scanner make sure thats good.

all vehicles 96 and later are going to have catalyst, evap, misfire, and a few others its law. the only things not law are heated cat, and a few things that can be manufacturer specific to meat emissions

ok ya i know it has a cat but i mean the software in the cars computer might not tell my hand held about the cat if its functioning right like on the 2004 it will say if the cat is malfunctioning or working fine
