most folks swapped it for a 3400 crate engine they had back then, and threw that emission nonsense out. it was about 180 hp and was a direct bolt in

Again, I'm getting opinions rather than answers here boys...not looking for what you would do personally, this is a forum for a reason....okay here is why a 3.4 would be fun in an *-10= Lightweight vehicle, room under the hood for a high-revving V6 With a Turbo, and plenty of experience with this engine which again, because of lack-luster mechanics out there, wasn't appreciated. Tired of the tards who say "get a SBC...get a Supercharged 3.8".....yada yada yada.. Just answers guys, and unless you're a GM programmer, keep the comments about how a certain PCM won't control something. Many aftermarket ones available that can be programmed...but again, I'm in the wrong forum to be talking about that.

the 3.4 is the wrong bolt pattern, as i posted, its a 60deg and the 4.3 thats in a 95 is the 8cyl pattern. it would take replacing the trans and 4wd if 4wd.

also the 60deg 700r4'* and t5'* that came behind 60deg s10 and fbody would never hold up to NA abuse let alone turbo. the 700 can be built to handle it though and doesnt require a computer

I see where he is going with this guys, anybody can throw a small block at it. The engine he is talking about is the North Star platform with 2 cylinders cut off. The North Star was originally designed for the Lemas racing series. Light weight, high flow high reving low torque engine. Throw a sheet metal intake on it with a couple of small turbos it could be a fun unique toy. It'* not always about easy when it comes to mods like we are talking about!

I have heard those 3.4 DOHC engines LOVE turbos, and it certainly would be a one of a kind deal to run a turbo 3.4 DOHC in an S10.

Can you make it work? Absolutely. It may require custom motor mounts, wiring, tuning, and a custom flexplate, but if you have the fabrication skills / money to do it then it definitely can be done.

I have owned two cars with those engines and flat out love them! Looking forward to a progress thread if you decide to move on.

Ok, you want simple straight answers, fine. This is a custom project that requires the simplest tool. Get a torch. Custom mounting brackets, custom exhaust, probably custom oil pan and notching of the crossmember. You already said you know of a custom PCM. Show me. I program myself.

Just because your not getting the answers you want doesn't mean you can come in here calling members "boys". Some of them here have been to more places than...oh don't get me started.

The 4l60e came behind the 2.2 four cylinder in the late model *-10 which has the same bolt pattern as the 3.4 so no he won't need to change everything just find a bell housing and a 4l60e would take the abuse.
