Cool 2001 chevy cavalier 2.2 auto

i have a 2002 chevy cavalier 2.2 that i bought. guy said he was driving it and while driving down the road car stopped moving but engine was still running strong. i looked at the flexplate and appears to be cracked around the crankshaft bolts. any ideas on what could cause this problem.

Yea, faulty flexplate. I had the same thing happen on my 1995 Grand Am years ago. Hopefully, you have enough room in the engine bay to at least separate the 2 enough to just remove the fly wheel. Otherwise, the engine'* coming out.

well i almost have the tranny out! friend of mine said he thinks tranny locked up.not exactly sure but would it being shattered around crankshaft bolts make any difference if the tranny locked up?

If your flexplate looks anything like this does...

Then a trans would "appear" to be locked up because the engine is no longer driving the trans.

if there is no oil pressure could be lifters or something in the bottom that will be fine once you fix the leak if its big. depends how long it was run that way
