to make a new ign key for a 1998.. whats involved?

I have a 97 Malibu and there is nothing you have to do. I just had a second key made it worked. The Malibu dose not have a chip key. The chip is in the ignition. It reads if the ignition is turned when the engine is cranking.

You could go to the dealer, but, you'd have to have your title to prove ownership, unless you do have another key, and, just want to have a new 2nd key, just go to any place that cuts keys, and, presto! 2nd key.
