04 Cavalier. Manual Transmission can i rebuild it?
so with this pandemic cars are harder to afford or come by
i have my 2004 cavalier that doesnt shift into first or second anymore and wasnt shifting into reverse.. but to drive i needed to start off in 3rd..
i was told orginally was the shifter but i swapped it out and still couldnt shift into 1 2
then i read could be that knuckle on the outside of the tranny but u cant really fix it without pulling tranny
and then when i shifting to 1 2 when i push over all the way.. i can see the cable bending
and i was told from a 2nd transmission shop its internal
so my question as they werent going to touch it or give me a price.. told me to look for a wrecker which is hard.. seems only automatics are out there
but can joe blow like me pull the tranny apart and repair the internals... do you need special tools or can it just be assembled etc.. and can these parts still be bought
or is it cheaper to buy a newer old car

Manuals are rare enough . . . and used manuals in usable condition are even more rare. They tend to get used hard by their owners.
I suspect these are units that were never expected to be rebuilt and probably have a lot of one-way parts inside.
If you have enough time and are diligent in your search, I bet you could find the transaxles in donor cars, but look really closely at condition if you buy one.

ah thats why i guess you cant even google it how to repair a 2004 cavalier manual.. just only find convert from automatic to manual... i was going to convert my car from manual to automatic but didnt see any videos on what was needed done..
ya i found a few manual cars they like 8 hour drive away from me.. and then high 300k
ive been looking for a donar car since feburary.. when i bought the car 10 yrs ago it had a small issues going in didnt think of it.. . but i think i put 60k on car in 10 yrs and now its just impossible to drive.. changed the clutch twice... damn master cylinder in the tranny lasts
boot leaks..
my sister has a same car and hers also having shifting problems but you oil the knuckle for the 2 cables works a bit better but its feeling same way i dealt with... till it got worse...
so basiclly this tranny is a 1 time use.. i was going to take it apart.... as the majority of donor cars i found all automatic...
and for the 2004 cav
is it 2003-2005 for the tranny ? or is that just the engine? or what year would i look for manuals

but id probably re ask.. . i just cant find any info for rebuilding this tranny... all you see is videos about removing an automatic or converting an automatic cav to a manual...
