Does anyone here do cyber monday? For the record it sounds yuppie to me. Anyway I seldom buy anything off the net now that they charge sales tax on everything and I do mean everything. The state of Hellinois even charges sales tax on shipping. Yes you heard me right shipping.
I recently bought some oil filters from rock auto. The sales tax was over 10%. I e-mailed them asking why they said there'* sales tax on shipping if it'* not exact shipping and that they cannot calculate exact shipping. Shipping was $9.95 IIRC.
Checked Hellinois law and it states you must pay sales tax on shipping unless it'* listed separately, and it was. I wonder if I have to pay sales tax on postage? Couple more things here a state isn't supposed to charge sales tax on items bought out of state without a company located in said state. Yes I know what the courts ruled. With all this revenue they're still bankrupt, WTF?
Reminds me of years ago when mayor daley of chitcago wanted to tax the collar counties because many people were buying goods outside of chitcago to save money. Taxing outside of your city is illegal too and thank god they didn't let him get away with it.
Bottom line is now that I have to pay taxes, shipping and sales tax on shipping it doesn't make any sense to buy online. Some things we're forced to because you can't find it in local stores and no more catalog sales either.
The greedy SOB would tax their mothers, wifes and children some day.
Remember the Beatles song tax man? So true.
