Need some help not sure what is going on. I know that when I head to the gas station to fuel up while pumping gas the gas will shoot out and its not even full. I can hear the gas coming up and it will shoot out unless I stop it myself. I was told that it could be the air fuel pressure sensor if so is that something that I could do myself or will have to to take in to the dealership? please any help would be helpful!!!!!

The gas shoots out of the filler neck or does it leak out from somewhere else?

It comes out the neck where the gas pump nozzle goes in.

Sounds like there is a restriction in the filler neck or the vent hose that attaches to the top of the filler is kinked. Has it always done this or has someone done some work on it reciently?

No it just started doing this, is something that can be done by myself to check an fix or would it be better that I take to the dealer?

Depends how mechanically inclined you are. I would crawl under your truck and look at the gas filler hoses and see if anything that is obviously out of place or kinked. If all that looks good your going to need to pull your filler neck out and inspect it. If I remember correctly there are some baffles in the tank it'* self that could of came loose and are blocking the fill port. The gas tank isn't easy to pull on the SUV'* with out the aid of a lift.

First thing to check is whether the EVAP vent solenoid is stuck shut or obstructed. It'* a black box a little bigger than a pack of cigarettes located under the vehicle near the gas tank, plumbed to the charcoal canister. #2 in this picture:

Pull the line off of the solenoid and try to fill your tank. If it works, the solenoid is stuck shut. If not, the canister is clogged or a line is obstructed somewhere. Start working your way backward to the tank.

Mine sprays from somewhere else at the top of the tank but I can't tell where.
