Checking transmission shifting.
I have a 2005 cts with a 5L40-E transmission. Right now the vehicle is on jackstands for maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, ect). My question is can I check transmission gear shifting (with this model transmission) with vehicle on jackstands?
Yes.
You might get some lights, but if you do they'll probably go away when it is back on the ground.
Be prepared the whole time for any slight misstep to have the vehicle fall off of stands and cause chaos and destruction.
Do everything gently.
Keep engine speed low and wheel speed low.
Shift to [Neutral] and gently apply brakes to gently stop wheels before putting it in [Park].
Question: What transmission gear shifting will you be able to check in the air that you can't check on the ground while driving it?
