Default cadillac cut off

I have a 1997 CADI SE that was all general purposes was running without incident. I took it to a local repair guy to change the motor mounts and do a tune up. when I got the car back it started cutting out on me. I would get to a stop sign and it would cut out. I am able to start the car back immediately. i took the car to my family mechanic who said the pcm brain needed to be replaced in order to fix this issue. I accepted that answer until my son bought a 2004 SLS. he rode the car around a week without incident and brought it to the same family mechanic to get a once over look. the family mechanic said he found nothing wrong with the car and agreed it was a good buy. that very evening his car started to cut off. WHAT IS GOING ON !!!

Take the car to Autozone and have them scan for diagnostic trouble codes.

Check for vacuum leaks.

Pull the throttle body off and clean out the carbon deposits. Pay particular attention to the back to the butterfly valve to make sure it is seating properly.

Also, pull the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator (engine off) and smell for gasoline in the hose. Replace it if you smell gas.

with the ignition off, remove the negative battery cable wait about 10 minutes, then reconnect. The PCM will be in learn mode, and you will have to reset your clock and radio.

disconnecting battery was the problem it needs to relearn idle speed. try idling in gear 10 min ac off then 10 min ac on. shut off restart & roadtest.
