2016 Cadillac Escalade ESV U1511 code
Hi group, wondering if anyone possibly has any guidance on my issue. I had a deer hit to the far passenger side(mostly headlight and just a lil of the grill) in my 16 ESV. I just got it back from the body shop and I have a persistent U1511 code. The shop used their scan tool and the active shutters are opening and closing on command with their tool. However the truck will not do it on its own like it should. Brand new shutters were installed as well. I have pix the shop provided me of both ends of the plugs, the pinout diagrams and also the voltmeter showing 0.0 at the pins. I can post them in the comments if it would help. I also made sure the fuse was still good. At any rate, has anybody experienced something like this and can provide help on how to remedy this code so I can have my remote start back lol
U1511 tells me lost connection with headlight module, likely the left one.
While the shop was replacing stuff, including the grill, maybe something happened over there?
Did the U1511 have any suffix code, like U1511-xx ?
The shop committed to the repairs, right? So they should stick with it until it is finished, right?

The damage was all right headlight and a very small portion of the grill on the passenger side as well. The shop would have continued to fix it but insurance said they will not put out anymore money into our repair. Needless to say I will be dropping them so they won’t be recouping what they put out to fix what they did already and it was a substantial amount to date. The active shutters were broken on that side and they replace the whole unit as a result.

Or is there some other factor that I'm not aware of?
Idk the truck runs and looks perfect now so nothing to total out, however there was no check engine prior to the deer hit and now this U code is steady on. I know we bitched and bitched to the insurance company about not finishing the job but they basically said tough **** and they’re not paying anymore towards it. They already about 10k deep in repairs/tests.
If it is too expensive to repair, they will usually total a vehicle to avoid it, then make money on the back end by selling the broken vehicle at an auction. Sounds like it is too expensive to repair.
Somebody committed to fixing it as part of this adventure, even if it was in the insurance company'* sales puffery. Typically, the way this goes is the body shop submits an addendum as new surprises come up. Did they do that?

The U1511 was on as well as a few others after the deer hit. All other codes have been remedied. I agree that they should be fixing it to prior condition before the hit but idk how to make them do that if they are flat out refusing to do so. Also they did not total it out, which I’m grateful for, as I’d rather have my truck than some measly settlement check they’d offer. Any recommendations on a way to strong arm them into finishing the job that I’m not aware of?
Hey cathedralcub, I was doing research into what you were saying about the left headlight module. From what I was reading if there was an issue with it or the wiring to it, I would be having flickering/outage issues, buzzing sound sometimes or no high beams with that headlight, among other things, correct? I’m experiencing none of those other symptoms, so are you still thinking that could be a possibility and if so can you possibly recommend a way to maybe test this theory? I really appreciate your input and help, so thank you.
