2006 XLR-V over XLR
Asking this question because I had a 06' XLR locally all picked out but it sold before I could get financing for it. There is a XLR-V up in LA for sale with a warranty for about 9K more which is not a big deal for me. Financing is now secured and its a dealer purchase.
Same miles, but in Black/Black instead of Red/Cream. It looks mean in black.
So is it worth the price of admission, did anybody buy a XLR then go V, or more hassle then the stock XLR?
I live in SoCal so the loss of adaptive cruise control is my biggest hit, and there is not a lot of room to really use the loud pedal around here. But I do have a track car for when I want to go really fast. My last singular daily driver was a SRT-10 Viper and I found that quite comfortable except for the road noise and crappy top.
Increase in payment and gas is not a deterrent for me but having never driven one I don't know if the ride is significantly different then the normal XLR which I really like. Its a 4 hour drive up and then 4 hours back to see it.
Also how good is the black paint on the Cadillac. Its a big flat angle car and its looks mean in black when its clean.

There is no doubt the V version is a rocket compared to the base model, but in my opinion the XLR is overpriced for what you get, and what you can get for the same money. Buy a Z06 Vette instead. I've driven both, and the Vette performs and handles better. I would even look at an M5 before an XLR-V.

Vette or M5 over XLR/XLR-V anyday
