Default Wipers aren’t working, not sure why

The wipers on my 1982 Buick LeSabre stopped working, and I think I know why but am unsure how to fix it. There’* a small metal piece that connects the wiper link arm to the motor, and I believe it’* supposed to spin all the way around, but it’* come loose and does not spin, any known fix for this?

yeah, it’* weird, the motor turns and the wipers make a sad attempt to move up, they just don’t make it very far

Does that have the nut that holds the arm onto the motor shaft. If so, tighten it. Let the wiper motor park and then adjust the arm to bottom and tighten the nut.

this might be exactly what I need, I tried tightening it but it didn’t work, but if I have to put it at bottom to get it all the way that might work, thank you

The shaft and arm are toothed. Make sure the teeth are good.

While you are doing this, be ready to turn off the ignition quickly in the event that it tries to run the wipers down below the park position.
