Default Turn signal Flasher in 99 Buick PA

I was having trouble with my turn signals. Right turn signal worked fine. Left turn signal was stuck in the on position even with the key removed from the ignition. Got the FSM out and found I had to remove a 'few things' to gain acess to the flasher. By the time I was done, I had removed the entire dahboard and the steering column. After I got everything out of the way I found the flasher behind a defroster duct up by the fire wall. Replaced the flasher ($28 at Rock Auto) and everthing worked fine. I bet I spent 16 to 20 hours removing amd replacing the entire dash. My question is ; Is there another way to gain acces to the flasher??

A commonly replaceable thing like the flasher requires dash removal?? Where'* the neighborhood 10 year old with 40 inch long arms and 2 inch sized hands when you need em?

Was it the standard 2 wire flasher?

I took the part apart and it has two little flashers insde presumably a right and a left turnsigal flashe and a circuit board with several little elactronic gizmos. Teh list price on it is about @90.00. Does it really need to be that compliacated?

thanks so much for the info. i am having the exact same problem at this very moment. turn signal either just clicks fast and dont work or it will work about 15 seconds and stick on for hours. i thought it was the multifunction switch. do you happen to have any pictures or the possibility to send me a scan of the fsm? i can send you my email if need be.

also, is there any way you can give me the model number or part number? i cant find one for autozone to search, and being that my turn signal is currently stuck i think ill just have to bite the bullet and pay autozone prices.

ok, found the part number... so scratch that. but being that its a dealer part (called autozone and he said part not yet available) i think i might be taking apart my dash and finding the best procedure to get it out and go to the boneyard tomorrow.

thanks again for your post, its much appreciated.

Turn signal controller - page 1 - Electrical - DO THE TON

if its too expensive or you cant find one, would seem like a simple thing to build

Greg any chance you took some photos of location / flasher unit?
Jason if you get to doing this job maybe you could grab some pics.
I have book 1-2 on the 97 FSM and found diagnostic and simply to replace the flasher but no description as to location /removal found in index.
