Anyone try buying a reman tranny from rock auto or like Oreillys, Autozone ect.. I just dont hav any luck with used trannys.. ive been through 4 used ones and havnt had my PA for a yr... Just wana through one in and not worry about it anymore.
If you don't want to worry about it again...prepare to spend some money. GM rebuilt CERTIFIED transmissions aren't cheap, but do come with a good warranty. Probably the best warranty when it comes to a rebuilt one. I think the warranty gets better IF you have it installed at a dealer.
X2 ^ It really is the best way to go!
Last time I check on a 4T65E they were readily available.
They have all the correct updated parts in the valve body and throughout!
If you know or can find someone that has a shop account with GM, the price gets very good!

I wish i did know someone, but if the dealer is the best route ill suspect sumwhere around $3000-$5000 its still ok right now but i can tell i dont hav to much longer untill the tranny ***** on itself lol.. Symptoms remind me of a cutlass i had.. And that tranny ended wit the guts & fluid all over the pavement and left a hole in the case.. "First time seeing that!" Only if i had pics
Shawn, give your closest dealer a call.
The Good Wrench rebuilt transmission should be $2k or less preferably.
Tell them it is Christmas time and you need the price gift wrapped !!!
If you or other shop does install, there will be a core charge but that is refundable after you return it.

the used ones always go bad in a month or two, they dont do good sitting around.
there is a great difference in trans rebuild prices, the dealers around here all want about 3500. you call around all the different local places though i have found a few that are within the 1000 dollar range for that same trans. most of the cheaper ones are in rural areas but they still have alot of experience. the one i took it too is in the middle of nowhere but he said they do at least one 4t60/65 a week and had it done in like 2 days. was like 50 or 60k miles ago and its had no issues

Update: ok maybe i wont have to replace the tranny just yet, i dont think it was enough fluid in the trans at all.. Wat made me get to the point of replacement was because it wouldnt even do 35mph
After having some free time. I started it. And let the car temp get up to about 206, and checkd the fluid and it wasnt even in thr cross hairs.. So i added a bottle of fluid. And still wasnt enough! (O_O) , so i added about half of a bottle of lucus to the mix and got it up there.. And a little more fluid and it was about halfway in the cross hairs.. So i took it out for a spin... Now problem is no longer there. But what is. Is say i drive normal. There is no problem. But say i go to try to spin the tires for a show off.. It wont shift into the next gear unless i ease off the gas.
When it does this it acts as if its just reving! I was told the torque converter is the problem. As ever so often it has a slight shudder during the first shift. But before i go paying money. I wana get extra input. Any ideas on this?

this trans is not that strong, and neither are the control arm bushings on this model, wouldnt be doing any "showing off" if it was me. transmissions dont like to run low on fluid most times it does internal damage or takes out the clutches due to low pressure or aeration of fluid from heat. when the one went on my bonnie it started acting up, i changed the fluid and filter and it seemed fine for a few trips into town then on the forth or fifth i mode it about 3 miles from the house before it was done completely, wouldnt do anything. if you intend on showing off a lot i would have it rebuilt by someone who knows these things and tell him you want it built stouter.
