Transmission Issue
I've got a 2006 Lacrosse, 3.8L with 103K on it. For a while I have had a problem with a "delayed, harsh engagement" when pulling away from a stoplight which has gradually gotten worse, and more frequent. Today I was driving in a snowstorm(40-50MPH) when I noticed the vehicle loosing speed, pressed on the accelerator, engine revved up to 4K with no acceleration. Also noticed the speedometer was not working and no trouble lights were lit up. After a few tries the speedometer came back to life, the transmission engaged again and I got a "Traction Control Engaged" message on the display. Drove the rest of the way to work(15 miles) without incident. Are these all signs of a bad\failing tranny or could I get lucky with a speed or ABS sensor?

True Car Nut
Falling to neutral without the shifter moving nor the prindle indicating it tells me it is a toasted transmission or it is really low on fluid. Since it worked fine again for 15 miles I'll guess it isn't toasted. The harsh engagement when pulling away from a stop light also tells me low fluid.
What is the fluid level?
