A good drive shaft company {that'* a good one not average} could have wacked off the non serviceable part and from his experience welded a new yoke on the old drive shaft
then come up with a longer spline yoke to make up the difference total cost should have been then no more then $100.
SPICER makes all kinds and yokes and drive shaft parts.
But your AVERAGE shop wants to charge as much as they can get away with.
