Default Replacing battery

Hi all.
dad removed battery yesterday and I didn’t see him do it. (He has cancer and is very weak) I went and purchased a new battery for Mom and am now trying to get it in the car. Dad is in bed exhausted from radiation treatment and I don’t want him trying to get back out to the garage for this.

im now putting it back in and want to verify a cable below the battery doesn’t need to be attached in any way.

My thoughts are with you on your dad'* condition!

That needs to get connected. Stack it under the positive terminal like on my 1997 Buick LeSabre:

You'll notice that yours is missing the red plastic that mine has. That'* okay and common.

Be careful tightening the bolt. Too tight will strip the threads and too loose will allow it to not make contact.

Adding some clarity just in case:

Make sure you install the bolt and block at the bottom to hold the battery firmly in place.
