Hey I think its getting time for new brake shoes on my Park Avenue. I'm gonna be honest, I have now clue how to repair/replace drum brakes. Pads and rotors I can do with my eyes closed, but this is alien territory to me. I was talking to one of the guys at work, that was a mechanic, and he can do them if I get the parts. I figured I'm just gonna get drums, shoes, and wheel cylinders, just to have new stuff back there. I'm looking at rock auto and amazon for parts, and now I'm totally stumped. Like do I need these adjuster kits, and springs too or just buy a set of drums, shoes, and calipers? And which ones of those do I buy?
Also since I'm doing the back, I figured I might as well do the front (the pads are fine, replaced everything up front last year. the ones on there now just make too much dust for me). I was going to go with ceramics. I heard that the Ceramic DuraStops, are just ThermoQuiet Ceramics re-branded for GM. Or does anyone have a better suggestions?

sometimes you can have the drums turned(ground down) if they are within spec if its more cost effective, usually ill buy the springs just because they are cheap and theres not an easy way to know if they are bad, the if the adjusters are not seized i put never seize on them and reuse them if they are seized than i will buy them i dont think they are expensive.

ok thanks, we dont have any tools to grind them down at the shop, so I figured with 17 nj winters I might as well just get a new set.
