No we SHOULD NOT. This has been argued for years. EDIT/DELETE has been turned off since the start of the forum for one main reason. To keep the integrity of the forum. We prefer that if information needs to be edited, to make another post explaining the change. Otherwise, the 'edit' will never be noticed. And when it comes to disciplinary action, we have proof in the post.

A post has some bad information and we cannot correct it in the post that has the bad info but need to start another post telling people we had a mistake in a different post.

Does that make sense?

BTW......If I were to have the edit I would not need to post this. Your server should be setup to log all entries. Even those that are later edited or deleted.

Hey guys, I installed the new PCM that just arrived from Oreillys (swapping the PROM) and the car runs fine. Really really bizarre.

Still not happy about it failing so randomly. And to be honest, I still haven't reassembled all the stuff in the drivers side door so maybe I'm not out of the woods just yet. Should know this afternoon.

If you mean the forum, they used to allow edit forever. Now it is restricted to five minutes after the post has been posted.

Whoops, guess I missed Page 2.

This is one of a bazillion forums hosted by Internet Brands. Since we're all here for free, none of us desire to use extra time to work through a process to divine what edits were done to what posts in order to discipline an abuser of some sort. If it'* already carved in stone in the thread, then it'* done, including for the purpose of lookups if an abuser continues to act up and/or comes back under a different identity etc. The downside is that folks might have to read all of the posts in a thread to find a correction. If they are that thorough and interested then they will succeed. If not, then they will likely have issues repairing whatever they are working on anyways.

As a side note, everything is back together on the car and it drives without a hiccup. Very very very odd issue and I was convinced that me replacing the window motor was somehow related. Maybe it still is but not sure I can do any more except just drive the car.

This is the third time the car would have left us stranded. I am lucky that all three times it has been right in the driveway before leaving. Last time, the power steering pump bolts decided to sheer off. Wife started car to go to store and the pump just fell off. Could have been bad if she was on freeway or something.

I think your note is the main note, and our tangent about editing is the sideshow. Thanks for letting us know how it turned out!
