Default Parking Brake Adjustment 2008 Buick Lacrosse CX

Hi Folks,
can any one tell me or send me a link to a video that shows me how to adjust the parking brake on my 2008 Buick Lacrosse CX. It'* the type that closes the caliper on the rotor when engaged and I haven't had any luck with my on line searches. Right now there is too much travel in the pedal and car will drift a bit on a grade.

Thanks,

Randy

They adjust automatically, and if they don't, they need to be replaced.

If the car has uneven side-to-side braking, I would look into improper lubrication on the slides first. Take it all apart, inspect and clean all of the slides, then lubricate all of them with a quality brake slide lube.

How many miles on the car?

How many miles on the current pads?

Who has done any of the brake work that you know of, and how many miles ago?

66k Miles on the car...I recently replaced the rotors and pads 3K miles ago, and yes i always ck and lube the slides.....both caliper units were replaced 20k miles ago due to brake fluid leakage which im told is common with this assembly. My thought was possibly the cable has stretched a bit over the years and there might be an adjustment there.

Ah, I see. I think the cable has a spring inline somewhere that makes up for cable stretch and also makes up for applied pedal position, so odds are slim that there'* anything noticeable wrong here unless there is damage. Next step would be to inspect the entire cable path of the parking brake cable.

How far does it roll when you apply the parking brake on a hill?

Hi Fellas,

Well it'* all good now. Turns out the drivers side caliper spring loaded emergency brake actuator was not releasing fully. It was releasing enough to release the brake but the cable wasnt fully retracting. Just took some WD40 and exercising it multiple times to return it to normal operation.....Thanks for the input and help.
