The guy said he did some research and heard of folks switching out PCM but didn’t sound 100% it would solve the problem. Trying to figure out what to do now, not wanting to experiment buying expensive parts to try :/
I'm leaning towards the throttle body having some bad electronics in it. Problem is a decent new one is $300.00 around here.

Good news though: Your local upullandpay has a red 2006 Lucerne V6 in row 36. If it still has its throttle body assembly they'll let you have it for $49.99 . 2007 and 2006 have the same throttle body. If your symptoms change after installing it in your car, at least we'll be out of the stalemate we find ourselves in. It looks like there are a few other cars there that might have the same throttle body also.

I don't know if you've been to that yard already. I have been there. Yes I live 1,152 miles away. It'* THAT good. No, just kidding. I had some time on a business trip and what else would one do with spare time in Cincinnati? It'* still a good yard though. Sad thing was that I had rented a 2011 Crown Vic (this was in 2014), and it could see at least ten junked Crown Vics from where I parked it.

Anyways I suggest you go try to grab that throttle body and see if it changes your car. If it does then we may have found the issue. If it does not then we keep looking.

Thanks for the thoughts and such Catherdalcub. I’ve heard of u pull and pay. Any idea if the pcm from that 2006 would work in the 2007? I figure it might be a good idea to grab that part also if it’* reasonably priced.

They are good, and surprisingly consistent. I've been to five of them so far. They are popular, and cars get picked through fairly thoroughly. The prices are great!

My answer is: probably. While they were trying to sell the new car, they were also struggling to sell it. I don't know of any significant changes made on the Lucerne at all that would make this 2006 PCM not work on other V6 Lucernes. That having been said, having a spare PCM that you can get reprogrammed for your specific car has probably a 99.995% chance of being compatible. At $35.00 on the price sheet you'd have a hard time going wrong.

Default UART

U0107 is most telling to me. C0242 is a byproduct, P1516 is "I expect the throttle position to be at xx% and I see it is at a different position than I expected and now I have become sad and need to tell someone about this feeling, I've known Throttle Actuator Control Module since I was born and I miss our close relationship". The different position could be 0% because of lost communication or some other % because the flaky electrical connection causes a major disparity between commands being received and completed and telemetry used for confirmation.

I agree. The UART needs to be checked. If the network drops comm, the system won't work.
