No Oil Pressure After Replacing Water Pump
 

Does anybody have any idea why my dash gauge would show oil pressure all the way down?
I had oil pressure registering before replacing my water pump.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I need to drive the car tomorrow, and I am worried if there really is no oil pressure that will end catastrophically.

Possibly pulled the wire off the oil pressure sensor located just above the oil filter, or even damaged the sensor. Take a look.

I see, my PS Pump knocked it off, or maybe broke it?
If it screws in the chances are I broke it, I'll try to get pics of what the sensor looks like as it is now.

Thanks for that link Danthurs, I broke it when I sat my PS Pump down on it.
Would it hurt to make a 6 mile trip to the grocery store before I can get this replaced, or would that be bad?

Am I going to have to drain my oil to replace this?

No problems at all. It only reads the pressure, not control it.

No need to drain the oil. A small amount will come out.

Question, do you know of anybody that has had success using the cheaper sensors?
Like the Airtex/Wells, or SMP one?

I ask because I read some had issues with inaccurate readings with non OE AC Delco sensors, so I'd normally just get the OE one, but money is beyond tight, so if I can get the sensor for around 20.00 instead of 40.00 my wallet would be happier.

Any should be fine. It's only giving you a reading, that is all. You want accurate, you will need a mechanical gauge.
