Default New Main Thrust Bearing Style?

Hi.... I'm rebuliding the 2.4 EcoTech in my 2011 Regal... I ordered main bearings from the local dealer and when they came in I had a surprise. The thrust surfaces on the rear bearing are separate pieces pressed onto the sides of the bearing surface, instead of the traditional one-piece molded type. I myself have never seen this type before, and when I attempted to bolt the crank down, one of the thrust surfaces broke away from the bearing...

Has anyone run into these before, and are there any words of wisdom installing them?

Are you talking about crank bearings?
I've never seen a one piece main bearing.

Well, two halves, of course, but these new ones , each half is constructed of three separate pieces.... the bearing surface, with two semi-circle thrust faces pressed onto the sides....

Weird, yeah I've never seen this.

Curious: What happened to the engine in the first place?

Those bearings are not something I've ever used on any rebuild but I've been out of it for close to 10 years.

Ok, got it figured out.... Bonehead me trying to install on wrong journals....
It goes on the second from the front, not the rear. Wtf was I thinking.

As to the motor, I love the car, but I put 110 miles a day on it, and I was up to a quarter mill, so.... It was using a lot of oil, and if I'm changing rings, I'm going to go through the bottom end too...
