My ACDelco 217-362 Fuel Pressure Regulator arrived and I installed it. I was a bit peeved to see that it did not come with a new fuel line retaining clip and I was nervous get the old one off for fear of breaking it.

Now with the old fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pressure would read around 40-42 psi; a bit low from the specs but within. I installed the new one and the static pressure; turn key on but don't start is at 40 psi. Engine running the fuel pressure was only around 36 psi. Therefore, I am guessing the fuel pump has too many years on it and needs to be replaced. I did not road test.

The main reason I replaced the regulator was that I was afraid the diaphragm would go to leaking and I would risk blowing the intake off.

It has been awhile since I have been on the forums. I thought I would close out this old thread. The problem is fuel related; cuts off if the tank is rather low but not otherwise. I think the fuel gauge reading is off as well. My solution is to keep enough fuel in the tank so I don't have to worry about it cutting off. One day when the weather is warm and I have some help, I may drop the fuel tank for inspection.
