Default Missing bushing

About 5,000 miles ago my 2018 Lacrosse Essense with eAssist went to the shop for some work. Then today and 5,000 miles later, I am changing the air filter. It was not necessary to pull the enscacement for the filter all the way out, but I thought it a good idea to clean the area and check the connections, etc. This is what I found:

Can anyone tell me the potential damage this may have caused? The pics are the top motor mount. (sorry can't resize them)

It may be relevant to note that I have an existing upcoming appointment for service that was made before this discovery. My chief complaint for the upcoming appointment is loud popping sounds coming from two areas of the car while the car is under heavy torque and or accelerating.

There is about one inch of thread showing. Both sides are identical.

There is also a rubber grommet missing here, but that the grommet is for the air filter pan encasement.

Please use a brief description for a thread title. "Need help", or "Help!!!" or "Is there a mechanic in the house" are not good descriptive thread titles. This helps out the search index when thread titles are descriptive.

Torque down the motor mount. That is likely banging under load.

What was done to it about 5,000 miles ago?

Can't really see any damage. I'd bet none was caused. We'd know for sure with many more pictures all around. For what it'* worth, there are a lot of mounts on these modern cars. If one or two are failing or loose, it usually doesn't cause much damage if any, and is more of a nuisance making strange sounds etc. as you have reported. In the olden days of rear-wheel-drive cars with two motor mounts on the engine and one more on the back of the transmission, a broken or loose motor mount could let the engine rotate up against the hood under torque, allow the fan to chew up the radiator, and/or other terrible things.

I'd bet these loose motor mounts are the cause of your problem.
