Long post
So my starter went out on my 1992 Buick LeSabre. I replaced that then it seemed that I had a charging issue as in the alternator was not providing power back to the battery. With that being said I had to replace the battery as well. So now we come to today for some reason when I go hook up the battery (with the key in my pocket) I connect the positive then the negative and when I touch the negative to the battery terminal the i hear dinging in the car and the dash lights (dummy light) are illuminated as if I had to describe it the car is stuck in accessory mode. Then I go to start the car and it just cranks and doesn’t fire as I continue to crank and crank it will fire and run for about 3 to 5 seconds and turn off. Any suggestions or help in this matter would be greatly appreciated thank you.

What is the theft light doing?
Any testing? Fuel pressure.

it was solid then I left the key on the on position not started for ten mins and it went out. I have not had the chance to test any fuel pressure yet. But it does have a fresh full tank of fuel.

I checked I do not have any fuel pressure but I also checked all the fuses and relays all look good. Also adding in that even with the key out of the ignition the blower motor for heat can be turned on and off. And continues to run at a low speed.

Something major going on with electrical. With accessory on while the key is off, I'd start at the ignition switch.

How many miles on the car?

How many miles have you owned the car?

What region does the car live in?

Any recent trauma?

Any recent major repairs besides the ones you noted?
