Default Fuel sending unit wiring harness???

Hello. Working on my 97 Lesabre 155k. Recently figured out I have a fuel pump that'* dying, as well as my sending unit having gone half a year ago. I'm looking to buy the fuel pump that comes with the strainer, float, and new tubes. They are sold at rockauto, partsgeek, autozone, oreillys and Napa. However everywhere I look they say wiring harness code 1 (CRD) or wiring code 2 (HEN, HER). I've found that harness 1 uses 0-95 ohms for the fuel gauge and harness 2 uses 40-240 ohms. It says that the one made for harness 1 (GM p/n 19179430) is used from 92-97 and the one made for harness 2 ( GM p/n 25180048 ) is 97-99.

I also found that looking on the RPO codes in the trunk label I can determine if I have harness 1 or 2. Looking at it I have the option of WA2, which apparently means I have the harness 2 (HEN, HER) which would indicate using 25180048. However when I have the parts guy at the dealership I work at look the vehicle up with the VIN he comes up with 19179430.

Does anyone have any experience determining these harness codes, without actually dropping the tank? I am certain the strap bolts haven't budged since December of 96' and I'd rather only take one go at them.

i remember the early ones on my inlaws 96 bonnie were like a flat 4 trailer connector. they are in a bad spot and let crap in and after the pump was changed it kept going out. i ended up just solder/heatshrinking the wires together
