Default cv axles

I had a clicking and popping noise when I would turn left or right, did some research and found it was my cv axles, I replaced the driver and passenger side along with new wheel bearing hubs, took the car for a short drive and heard a loud noise at a stop light when i started to accelerate but the car would not move, sounds like i ruined the transmission but cant see how, all I did was replace the cv axles, this is on a1999 buick lesabre, i checked the passenger side and the cv joint had come loose from the transmission

UPDATE: the cv axle shaft that I had purchased from advance auto was defective, the splines that go into the transmission where not deep enough as compared to the old cv axle shaft, went to oreillys and got a new axle shaft and it works perfectly, also to let you know, in my trunk of my 1999 buick is a service parts identification sticker that tells you the type of axle shaft for your car, mine was FQ3, I found this out from the oreilly web site while looking for the correct cv axle shaft for my car, hopefully this may help someone in the future
